Tool
Description
This PM marks the last service to be done under the service contract for the tool. Going forward, we will be responsible for all tool maintenance going forward.

Main PM Tasks
- UPS (Main) Replacement
- The batteries in the UPS required replacement. Instead of changing the batteries, Jeol sent out a completely new UPS. Territorial Electric was brought in to complete this equipment swap. Once the microscope was shut down, power was isolated from the UPS and the new UPS was installed.
- RP Pumps Oil Change
- Once the pumps were shut off, the oil was drained and replaced. The oil should be topped up only to the dot on the sightglass, about halfway up.
- The back panel on the RP pump can be removed, and the belt dust can be blown out to help with the integrity of the belt.
- The pump belt can easily be replaced once the cover is removed, and the motor is adjusted to ease the belt tension using the motor mount screws. Once the new belt is in place, re-tension the belt and secure the motor in place.
- The air filters on top of the pumps inside the SS canisters were checked and were clean, no need to replace at this time.
- Ken was not concerned about the slight noise (belt) from one of the RP1, so this was not replaced. We still have one brand new pump on the shelf.
- Microscope Chiller Service
- The chiller was shut down and drained using the drain line at the front of the chiller. This does not completely drain the cooling loop for the whole system but drains the chiller reservoir completely.
- The strainer filter in the chiller reservoir was removed and cleaned as well as the reservoir itself.
- Fresh demineralized water was added to the chiller.
- Some algae growth was seen in a couple spots on the flow meters of the cooling loop. Ken shared a document which outlines the recommended water additives to get this under control

- Cooling Panel Chiller Service
- EM complete shut down and power up
- Save the lens profile and Cs Corr alignment before shutdown
- Sequence: 1. Shutdown Cs Corr PC lens, PC and power; 2. Shutdown EDX PC and Gatan PC (close Gatan DM software first), cameras and Digiscan; 3. before the UPS swap, turn off HT and shutdown TEM center and EM PC; 4. Power off EM/EDX controller from control panel (this takes ~ 5min)
- After the UPS power swap, power up the EM by turning on the main power on EM power supply in the service room (tripped once).
- The hardware need to be powered up before PCs: had an issue that Gatan DM cannot find Digiscan, resolved by restart the PC after all hardware powered up.
- Vacuum level recovered after about 1 h, turn on HT without conditioning in ~ 25 min.
Action Items
- Devin Fortier Order spare pump belts and oil, maybe air filters
- Devin Fortier Order chiller additive to deal with algae growth
