The nanoFAB offers a wide variety of material characterization capabilities, which are open to external (academic and industrial) groups as fee-for-service (FFS) projects, with no requirement of user registration. In all FFS projects, the scope of work is determined and finalized first and then samples are submitted/shipped for the nanoFAB staff members to perform requested analysis. Most of the analysis work are charged at hourly rates and invoiced by actual analysis time upon completion, while some preparation work is charged per sample/process.
University of Alberta researchers are encouraged to register and become a facility user to submit sample analysis via LMACS for ongoing access, in which case internal rates apply. For infrequent analysis, non-registered U. of Alberta researchers can submit sample as fee-for-service work, but external academic rates apply.

Workflow on how to request sample characterization for external users is as below:
I. Request quotation
- Contact Peng Li (peng.li@ualberta.ca) to discuss your sample characterization needs and finalize all related technical details and the scope of work.
- A formal quotation and sample submission form are provided to you.
II. Sample Submission
- Prior to sample submission, confirm the requirements associated with your requested analysis (size, volume, etc.).
- Submit your samples with a printout of filled & signed sample form to the following shipping address:

Important:
Samples that are submitted without properly-filled sample forms will NOT be processed.
III. Invoice
- Work will be invoiced by the actual analysis time upon completion.
- If a P.O. is required from your organization, please obtain and provide a P.O. number in advance.
- All unit prices included in the quotation include both instrument and staff costs.
