The nanoFAB offers a wide variety of material characterization capabilities, which are open to external (academic and industrial) groups as fee-for-service (FFS) projects, with no requirement of user registration. In all FFS projects, the scope of work is determined and finalized first and then samples are submitted/shipped for the nanoFAB staff members to perform requested analysis. Most of the analysis work are charged at hourly rates and invoiced by actual analysis time upon completion, while some preparation work is charged per sample/process.

University of Alberta researchers are encouraged to register and become a facility user to submit sample analysis via LMACS for ongoing access, in which case internal rates apply. For infrequent analysis, non-registered U. of Alberta researchers can submit sample as fee-for-service work, but external academic rates apply.
